Where The Wild Things Are

Maurice Sendak’s bestselling children’s picture book, Where The Wild Things Are has clearly aged line fine wine over the last forty years, as it is set to be made into a live action film. The Spike Jonze’s directed film is due to release October 16, 2009, just in time for Halloween.

All I have to say is, “yes please!”

The film’s premise is said to be very close to the book – a young boy named Max is sent to his room for mischief he’s caused, but fantasizes a colorful and vast world full of enormous fuzzy monsters. These monsters take kindly to Max and want to make him their king, but of course the real world continually interjects and rips Max away from this world “where wild things are”.

Not since The Never Ending Story has someone taken a live action cartoonish film with a good script and pumped truckloads of money into it. In the trailer alone, you as the viewer go through the entire spectrum of emotion and feel an immediate sense of closeness to the characters.

I’m completely psyched for this movie.
