Jerry Seinfeld vs. Lady Gaga

image from BestWeekEver.TV

According to Entertainment Weekly Jerry Seinfeld was either very upset or very amused by Lady Gaga's antics at a recent Mets game. Gaga held a front row seat and wore only a Yankees jersey over some black undergarments, and made no bones about her drinking habits. Hey, it's a summer game, probably very few people there didn't have a beer. But while other reports say she flicked off photographers, there are conflicting reports saying she flicked off the fans. Either way, her behavior saw her escorted from the front row to a box seat which Jerry Seinfeld paid for. The quote all the news sites are stealing for their headlines: “This woman’s a jerk. I hate her.” I'm not sure how to feel about this report, as no one seems to be able to put their finger on whether or not Seinfeld was serious. Before he branched off of the topic for a comedic bit about giving the finger, Senfield also had this to say, "I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for. You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in right now?”

It all sounds very bitter and whiny but from the audio clip I've heard out there he sounds like he's doing just another comedy bit, but with less laughter. So I'll respond on behalf of my two biases.

The bias that loved the show Seinfeld says this was just a radio show host trying to get Seinfeld's thoughts on a topic he never brought up, so Seinfeld took it and ran with it for kicks.

The bias that remembers Seinfeld agreeing when Leno gave Conan the figurative finger and got promoted says he's a washed-up C-lister who's jealous of Gaga's newfound fame and the fact she can get away with hijacking his paid-for box seats when she's too drunk to give a darn.

Depending on which bias you have, you might see the story one way or the other. Really it's all very open-ended.
