Remake or Reboot of The Crow

According to Geeks of Doom, who cite an interview done via MTV with a producer, a remake or a reboot is being created of the 1994 cult classic The Crow. I've spoken out about remakes / reboots today and how Hollywood is clearly on their hands and knees begging for stories to the point they'll remake anything rather than struggle for a new original idea. But this has only further infuriated me. The Crow is one of the most epic movies of all time and completely deserving of its cult following! If you wanted a great avenge the murdered and raped film, Death Wish owned the 70's, Sudden Impact owned the 80's, and The Crow owned the 90's!

What could possibly be looked at in the original Crow and made someone say they could do it better? The producer had this to say about the remake:

The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it’s not just a bird; it’s got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it’s very different [and has] a more active role in the story.

... Right. The Crow needed more character. What's that really going to boil down to? The main character cracks a joke and the camera cuts to the crow bobbing its head? You couldn't make The Crow darker or grittier. What strikes the most fear in me is that the producer states feelers have been sent out to a major actor for the lead role. If that lead actor is Robert Pattinson, so help me Kermit The Frog!!

I leave you with this beauty.
