The Crazies Review

image from Amazon

Premise:
A cargo plane goes down in the river of a typically quiet Iowa town, polluting the water with a chemical that makes everyone get a case of the crazies! (Unfortunately that awesome phrase is not used.) Basically its a zombie movie, but with smart zombies who can use weapons and make traps.

My Highlights:
Everything involving The Crazies. Seriously, all of the tense "have to be quiet so they don't hear us" scenes as well as the logical fights in a Hollywood film are mindblowingly awesome. Also loved the progression of the Deputy's character toward the end.

Overall Rating:
My one complaint with this film is that most of the characters don't kill Crazies to protect themselves nearly as much as characters kill Crazies right before they can kill others. Saving others is a great tool to utilize in this kind of film, but it reached a point that they were even acknowledging it in the film. Other than that, it was by far the best horror movie I've seen in a long time. 4 1/2 *'s out of 5, or 9 *'s out of 10!

When You Should See It:
Right away! If you can watch it on Halloween you'll be doing yourself a favor, but I'm positive I would have loved this movie any time of the year.
