Announced Villains For The Dark Knight Rises

According to Deadline, Christopher Nolen has announced two big characters (I guess I shouldn't really say villains, as that would be a big assumption) for the final movie in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Tom Hardy (Inception) will play the drug-fueled convict, Bane, who can match Batman in intelligence and in brawn. Bane is best known to the public for the character's portrayal in the cinematic classic, Batman and Robin, where he was just a mindless hulking brute playing third fiddle to Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. The character has a strong following by those who know him better, for being the man who broke Batman's back and put him out of crime-fighting for months of physical rehabilitation.

Anne Hathaway (The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada, Get Smart, Bride Wars and Alice In Wonderland) will be giving Michelle Pfeiffer a run for her money by playing Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman. I can't vouch for the Halle Berry portrayal of the character, but I hear it was a travesty she didn't win an Oscar. A lot of fanboys are showing some negative backlash over both Hathaway being casted, and the fact we're getting yet another Catwoman. To Hathaway's critics, I say Hathaway is awesome. I really enjoyed Get Smart, and not just for Steve Carell or The Rock, and Princess Diaries was a lot of fun. Christopher Nolen took Heath Ledger and saw what he could be. I trust his judgment about what Hathaway could be for him.
