Scream 4 Review

image from Amazon

Premise:
On the fifteenth anniversary of the massacre of the first Scream film, Sidney Prescott returns to Woodsboro on a book tour about her account from the massacre. Shockingly enough, copycat(s) are running wild!

Standouts:
I have nothing but positive notes that stood out to say about this film. It really stayed true to the original trilogy, and it was dead-on in it's parody/satire of the modern day horror genre. I also adored all of the new cast, feeling like only people who truly loved the franchise were given the honor of being in the film.

My Highlights:
Robbie's attempt to use the rules of horror to his favor, Gale's final word of the film, and everything Alison Brie (Annie from Community).

Overall Rating:
Absolute fun from start to end. This film was smart, scary, funny, and just had a ton of great things working in its favor. As someone who was never really a fan of the Scream franchise, I really enjoyed this film and thought it was very well done. 4 1/2 *'s out of 5, or 9 *'s out of 10.

When You Should See It:
If you liked any of the original Scream trilogy, this is a must-see ASAP. If you're a fan of horror movies in general, try and see it before it leaves theaters. If you can't make it to the theater, at least put it on your Netflix Queue, because you should at least be in the pop culture loop about it.
