Seth MacFarlane Drags The Flintstones Up From The Grave

According to The Hollywood Reporter, creator of Family Guy and Cleveland show, Seth MacFarlane is going to reboot The Flintstones for Fox. The article gives people some hope for this crazy and totally unnecessary idea to rob the franchise of any dignity it died with -- MacFarlane says he's been a huge fan of The Flintstones since he was two years old. Then MacFarlane promised some "updates".

"What's the animal version of the iPod?" - Seth MacFarlane

While I'm quoting people, here's an appropriate response from Futurama:

"You raised my hopes and then dashed them quite expertly! Bravo sir!" - Tinny Tim

If we're going to do this, I can get on board with making things culturally relevant to today's generation, but an iPod? Maybe I'm more resistant to change than I thought, but that feels like too far. Today's on-going themes targeting the youth (I assume that's who we're SUPPOSED to be targeting with a classic like The Flintstones right?) like anti-bullying and steering clear of smoking and alcohol seem like the way to go. But who am I kidding? This is Seth MacFarlane, which means Bam Bam and Pebbles will have over the top intellectual conversations with Dino while their respective fat, lazy fathers will make politically incorrect shock-value one-liners. Just dying to see this revolutionary new format.
