Adam "MCA" Yauch of Beastie Boys Succumbs To Cancer At 47

It's been a while since we've reported any actual news on Organized Remains from the entertainment world. Sure, we've had plenty of reviews, and a couple of trailers, but this news hits us big at Organized Remains because we're big fans of The Beastie Boys.

According to TMZ, at 11:30 AM today, May 4, 2012, MCA's publicist announced via writing "It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam 'MCA' Yauch ... passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."

Part of me feels it's fitting to do a whole biographical obituary for the man, but I'm not going to remember him for his side projects, and no one knew who The Beastie Boys were in 1979 when they formed. I'll remember him for being one third of the greatest hip-hop groups ever. The Beastie Boys made it okay for nerdy white kids to listen to rap without falling to ridicule. Or more ridicule than they probably already were. But the Beastie Boys never took themselves too seriously, and that made them all the cooler. But to those who were close to Adam "MCA" Yauch, I'm sure he'll be remembered as a loving husband and father, with an eccentric view of the music industry and a great sense of humor.

Educate yourself, kids.
