Looking Forward To: Mr. Peabody And Sherman

Fire Up The WABAC Machine! According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks is not only creating, but are excited about creating the feature-length animated film, Mr. Peabody and Sherman. They're so excited in fact, that they've bumped the release date up from March 14, 2014, to a much nearer November 8, 2013! This film will be based on the cartoon segments Peabody's Improbable History from the 50's/60's series Rocky and Bullwinkle, where a genius dog adopts a boy named Sherman as his lab assistant. Together, Sherman and Mr. Peabody would hop in their time machine, called the WABAC (pronounced: Way Back) Machine and go on adventures through time meeting influential figures. The internet archival service, Wayback Machine was named such as an homage to the show.

In terms of casting, Ty Burell of Modern Family fame will voice Mr. Peabody, and Max Charles will voice Peabody's boy, Sherman. Opposite our heroes, Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Allison Janney (The Help), and Ariel Winter (Modern Family) will voice Peabody's rival family, Paul, Paula, and Penny Peterson. Colbert did wonders with his character in Monsters vs. Aliens and I have no doubt he'll do great here too. But things get even spicier! Also cast are Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids, The Office) and Stephen Tobolowsky (Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, Californication), with Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little) directing. Seriously! The guy who did The Lion King is doing this movie!

When this film comes out, I'm gonna watch it, and then I'm gonna fire up the WABAC machine and watch it again and again.
