I'm not sure why Nintendo would do this, but there's a rumor that a new Wii (not Wii U) console is coming out that will be smaller.
The news came from Nintendo World Report: "The information was part of an internal release schedule from a major retailer that at this time we are unable to disclose. After combing through the details we've gleaned the following information:
Introducing the Wii Mini! Coming Dec 7 2012!
WII MINI CONSOLE
Compact Nintendo Wii Console
Comes with Sensor Bar, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus with Jacket."
Two reasons to wonder why would Nintendo do this are: Wii U just came out, and isn't the Wii small enough? I remember when I first opened the Wii when I purchased it, I was amazed on how small it was. Getting a smaller PS3 made sense because it was so big, but wasting time with a smaller Wii doesn't make sense to me. We will just have to wait and see what Nintendo says on Dec 7. If they say anything at all.
