Fieldrunners 2 Steam Review

Fieldrunners 2 is available on Steam for $9.99 or $0.99 for the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. For this review I played it on the PC using Steam.

Back with new towers and the return of some towers from the first game, it's time to defend your base! Fieldrunners 2 is a pretty simple tower defense game. You place different towers around the outside of your base that will kill the enemies that try to destroy your base.

There are many different towers to choose from! From the simple turret to a flamethrower! The strategy is to build the best maze of towers. This way it takes longer for the enemy to get to your base, and gives you more time to kill the enemy. If you're able to survive the amount of rounds depending on the level your playing then you win! Winning will get you a star rating, and the more stars you earn the more towers you can unlock.

Fieldrunners 2 makes war look cute. Despite making it my mission to send my enemies to an early grave, they look cartoonishly adorable. It's not a style for everyone's tastes, but I actually enjoyed how the entire game looked. I also really liked the catchy music to Fieldrunners 2.

Fieldrunners 2 has also added the new Sudden Death mode, and Puzzle mode. Sudden Death mode is mainly like the main game, but with a certain amount of enemy units that you have to kill before you can win. Puzzle mode gives you a certain amount of weapon towers, and you have to place them in a pattern so the enemy units have to run through different beams in the level. Both modes are a nice addition to the main game, and I really enjoyed the Sudden Death levels.

With a good amount of levels, towers, and ease of sitting down and getting sucked into the game makes Fieldrunners 2 a great game. My biggest problem is the price. I haven't played the iPhone or iPad's versions, but I can't find anything that makes the PC version special. I don't understand why it costs ten times more on Steam!

Final Say: Despite the price difference I'm still going to recommend Fieldrunners 2. It's fun and good for anyone who wants an easy to learn tower defense game. Just get it for the iPhone or iPad if you have access to them since it costs a lot less.
