Nick's E3 Diary Part 1

E3! E3!... *heavy breathing* it's glorious! It's that time when all the game companies around the world are like, "Hey let's all just show off what we have right now!" Even though we get to see a ton of great games, gamers are still left disappointed if we don't see everything we've ever wanted. For me personally, that was Saints Row 5. That's all I wanted but no word on it. Maybe they're waiting for everything else to be announced first? I'm starting to think I might not be the gamer that E3 targets. All the press conferences showed a lot of cool games, but what got me the most excited?

Grim Fandango! A game that came out in 1998 is getting a remake. That's what I'm most excited about? What's wrong with me?

These remakes! I love them. I think it's just because with new games I'm never sure if I'll like them or not. With remakes I have to like them, right? I mean, I liked them a decade ago! Why shouldn't I like them now? I know they can mess up remakes like Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD, but when they get it right it's so good! Look at the Monkey Island 1, and 2 remakes. Now that's a remake that's medium-rare perfection. Deep down I'm thinking the main reason I'm excited for the remake of Grim Fandango is because there is now a chance that Monkey Island 3 will get the same treatment. Don't get me wrong. I think Grim Fandango is a classic, but Monkey Island 3 will complete the trilogy of Monkey Island HD remakes (yes I know there's a forth one, and don't care).

In other E3 news, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty got a release date for July 22nd. I've been waiting for this for awhile, and it's so close! Oddworld is another favorite game of mine. I'm not really sure what to expect from this game because I think it's a remake but with new levels? I've heard many different things. Doesn't matter though because it looks great and I'm pumped to play it!

Maybe you watched E3 and feel I've ignored the elephant in the room. "He's mentioning all these remakes except for one, and I'm about to explode!" Fine! I'll talk about the Halo series remake. It looks good, and I'm sure there's a lot of people excited. But more E3 thoughts to come in my next E3 Diary installment so stay tuned!
